Gene will be presenting on Real world Attack Scenarios and How to Defend Your Organization

Keeping your organization's users, systems and data safe has never been more difficult than it is today. High-profile data breaches permeate news headlines and highlight the current state of information security within a majority of organizations. We'll discuss how breaches occur and what your organization should be doing to prevent them. We'll walk through a step-by-step real-world example of an attack chain in which initial exploitation, privilege escalation and catastrophic compromise of an organization's data and systems occurs. Then we'll discuss what people, process and/or technologies could have prevented the attack at each step of the attack chain. Most importantly, we will provide you with an actionable list of ten things your organization should be doing today to avoid becoming the next headline tomorrow.

The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)® is a not-for-profit international organization of information security professionals and practitioners.  It provides education forums, publications and peer interaction opportunities that enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members. We hope the ISSA will provide a chance to interface with other IT professionals and further your awareness of security practices and technologies.
