"Information Security Management - A practical approach to building and maintaining a Security Program",
Daniel Charboneau, Cisco Systems

 

Daniel Charboneau as worked in the Information Security field for the past eight years. During that time he has created Information Security Programs for Financial and Educational Institutions. While creating and managing information security programs he has helped organizations with Regulatory Compliance, Software Development Lifecycles, Security Awareness Programs, and Network Security challenges. Currently he is acting in the Systems Engineer role focused on Security Solutions for Cisco Systems.


Daniel will be presenting on Information Security Management.

    With all of the Security products on the market, and the demands placed on Information Security Managers, what qualifies the appropriate strategy for developing an effective long term Security program. There are several different methodologies in use from Octave's Business Based Risk Assessment methodology from Carnegie Mellon, to Attack and Penetration based models, and Attack Map processes. In addition to the competeting methodologies there are hundreds of security products touting best of breed security and management capabilities (SIM's SEM's, Log Consolidation). Daniel will be discussing how he created successful security programs leveraging technology and methodologies.

     

 

The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)® is a not-for-profit international organization of information security professionals and practitioners.  It provides education forums, publications and peer interaction opportunities that enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members. We hope the ISSA will provide a chance to interface with other IT professionals and further your awareness of security practices and technologies.
