Central Plains Chapter Meeting:

"VoIP Security", Ron Shuck, CISSP, CISM, CISA

Ron Shuck is the Infrastructure Security Architect at Spirit AeroSystems. Ron has over 25 years experience working with enterprise networking and UNIX based systems with an emphasis in information security. His current responsibilities include Enterprise Security Architecture and Design, Information Security and Disaster Recovery initiatives. Ron also participates in the security community as founding and current president of the Central Plains Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA).

Ron will be presenting on VoIP Security

Because of the bandwidth efficiency and low costs that VoIP technology can provide, businesses are gradually beginning to migrate from traditional copper-wire telephone systems to VoIP systems to reduce their monthly phone costs. VoIP solutions aimed at businesses have evolved into "unified communications" services that treat all communications - phone calls, faxes, voice mail, e-mail, Web conferences and more - as discrete units that can all be delivered via any means and to any handset, including cellphones. This also means that networks are becoming increasingly complex and more important in the success of many businesses. Maintaining an environment that provides adequate information security not only provides your organization with a competitive advantage, through reduction of risk costs and creation of new business opportunities, but now is at the very heart of protecting the thing most companies take for granted: voice communication. Join Ron as he discusses VoIP Security.

The topics of this presentation include:
    • VOIP Components.
    • Common Threats.
    • How Threats are Used.
    • Future Trends.

The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)® is a not-for-profit international organization of information security professionals and practitioners.  It provides education forums, publications and peer interaction opportunities that enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members. We hope the ISSA will provide a chance to interface with other IT professionals and further your awareness of security practices and technologies.

This meeting is open to the general public with no expectations of membership.
