Technology and Security Risk Services practices, as an enterprise security architect and IT auditor respectively.
Alan is a US Air Force Communications veteran. His focus was on data centers, including managing the largest data center in Pacific Air Forces. He was
a key team member in the establishment of what are now the Air Force Network Operations and Security Centers (NOSC).
Alan will be presenting on Ransomware
Ransomware is malicious software that criminals use to encrypt files and hold valuable data for ransom. Once infected, organizations are forced to restore
data from backup with some data loss or pay the ransom. Recently there has been a rash of ransomware incidents across the country especially targeting the
health care industry, in some cases affecting patient care. This presentation will cover security weaknesses that increase the risk of an organization being
infected as well as recommended measures that organizations should apply and consistently maintain to reduce the likelihood of them being victim to a
ransomware attack.
