"Security Case Management - Enterprise Security without an Enterprise Budget", Ron Shuck & Brett Solon

Ron Shuck is the Director of Information Security at CURO Financial Technologies Corp. Ron is responsible for CURO's global Information Security program. His team provides information security services. Ron has been with CURO since November of 2014. Prior to joining CURO, Ron was Global Computing Security & Network Services Manager for Spirit AeroSystems, the world's largest supplier of commercial airplane assemblies and components. Ron has over 20 years of experience in information security, and 30 years IT and management experience working with enterprise networking and UNIX based systems. Ron received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Wichita State, and his Masters in Business Administration from Friends University. He has numerous professional level security certifications, and participates in the security community as founding and current president of the Central Plains Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA).

Brett Solon is a Senior Information Security Analyst at CURO Financial Technologies Corp. He has over 7 years of IT Security experience, specializing in SIEM, incident response and process automation. Brett has a B.S. in Computer Engineering from WSU, and many industry certifications including CISSP, CEH, GCIA, GNFA.

This presentation is an expanded version of the Open Source Security Tools talk presented at OzSec 2018, and will cover the real world application and use of open source software tools in the development of an Information Security Case Management System (CMS). A CMS is a valuable tool in the management of security event data and alerts, and invaluable in the management of the Incident Response process. The presentation will provide an overview of a complete Information Security Management System (ISMS), a deep dive into the components of a CMS, and a real world example of deployment. Ron & Brett will then discuss how the CMS fits into Incident Response, an explanation of plays & playbooks, and a demo of The Hive.
