June 1st,  2007

Central Plains Chapter Meeting:

"The Promise of 802.1x", Kip Schroeder, CISSP

Kip Schroeder has been in the IT field for the past 17 years and has spent the last 6 working for Cisco Systems where he has focused exclusively on securing voice and data communication networks. Kip is a regular presenter to industry trade groups including ISSA where he shares broadly from his engagements and perception of industry directions. Kip has lived and worked for the past 14 years in Wichita, KS where he has spent time interacting and consulting with both national and international companies from a multitude of industry segments.

Kip will be presenting on 802.1x

802.1x from its inception has been full of promise. The promise that only authorized individuals would have access to your wireless and LAN switch ports. The promise that employees would be mapped to their specific VLANs. The promise that your Microsoft scripts and drive mapping would work seamlessly. The promise that your wireless nodes would securely and easily connect and communicate via your wireless infrastructure.

Please join us on Friday, June 1st at 1pm for the bi-monthly meeting for the Central Plains Chapter of the ISSA as we discuss and demonstrate 802.1x and the gotchas which keep breaking your promises.

The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)® is a not-for-profit international organization of information security professionals and practitioners.  It provides education forums, publications and peer interaction opportunities that enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members.
