Central Plains Chapter Meeting:
"Email Security with DMARC", Mitch Roberson
Mitch Roberson is the Director of Enterprise Systems at CURO Financial Technologies. Having worked as a consultant at multiple VARs as
well as Microsoft. Mitch has had the experience of seeing a multitude of environments. As well as working with both Network, Systems and
Security teams. This has allowed him to broaden his knowledge in many areas of IT. Because of this broad experience, it has driven him to
an almost fanatical desire to have visibility in his environments so he can understand what is happening within an environment. He still
is responsible for day to day operations of Active Directory, Exchange, and much more, but his passion is to learn how applications
communicate so he can decrease mean time to resolution.
Mitch will be presenting on DMARC
Email is one of the most common attack vector for nefarious actors. It is difficult to understand why more companies have not taken advantage of technologies that would help them
and their partners decrease the risk associated with email. There are many approaches to stop these types of email attacks: everything from machine learning to signature based tools
are being discussed. Unfortunately, no one has a really solid solution yet. However, one of the more common and less talked about technologies is DMARC combined with DKIM and SPF.
This could be very effective if more people implemented it. This presentation will discuss the use of DMARC, how it works, and how it can improve your email security posture.
