Central Plains Chapter Meeting: "Through 2025, 99% of cloud security failures will be the customer’s fault.", John Chavanne John is a Cloud Security Solutions Architect with Palo Alto Networks who is passionate about simplifying and solving real-world issues with technology. He comes from a strong infrastructure background, having spent most of his career working in Network Engineering and Architecture, establishing network design standards for a large global bank. An important element of his designs has always been to bake security and automation into processes as early as possible. This was critically important in order to scale solutions within a large global enterprise. Prior to joining Palo Alto Networks, he also spent the previous two years as a Cloud DevOps Engineer, automating and securing cloud infrastructure for application teams.
John is a curious learner, strong advocate of community groups, and DevSecOps. He loves the opportunity to help and teach others when possible, as well as learn from the people he talks with, especially around the areas of Cloud, DevOps, DevSecOps, and Cybersecurity, where we can always learn more.
John will be presenting on Cloud Security
Gartner states that: "Through 2025, 99% of cloud security failures will be the customer’s fault."
The recent State of Cloud Native Security 2022 Report also found among all groups surveyed, those that develop a strong security posture are far more likely to report better business outcomes—and those that tightly integrate DevSecOps principles are over 7X more likely to have strong or very strong security posture and are 9X more likely to have low levels of security friction.
We will discuss the whys and hows to implementing security throughout the cloud native application lifecycle, for both applications and cloud infrastructure, all the way from the developer IDE, through automated CI/CD tooling, and at runtime protection.
