Mario will be presenting on Information Security challenges

In the last several years there has been far greater attention towards the importance of information system security capabilities in both the public and private sectors. However practitioners face numerous challenges towards achieving an effective implementation with the necessary support. While there are many reasons contributing to the challenge, the traditional methods used by information system security professionals to gain organizational support will more than likely not achieve the desire end state. Understanding how to justify an information system security program and obtain support demands a non-traditional approach and has to be well planned.

In addition to program development there will be a discussion on highly publicized security incidents to include those that had a national security impact. Incidents involving government information systems were key drivers in raising the national priority for comprehensive cyber security effort. The potential impact and effect on military operations, intelligence information, or public services will be reviewed to understand how the fallout propelled the need for greater cooperation and subsequent investments.
