Central Plains Chapter Meeting:

"Information Assurance and Digital Forensics", Robert Wilson

Robert Wilson has watched the development of data processing from the punched card, through the transistor, integrated circuit, computer network and now the Internet. His extensive experience includes manufacturing and health care. He has provided PC user support, training and repair. His duties have included administration of UNIX, Oracle and NetWare systems, and quality assurance testing for real-time, multi-user operating systems. Robert's professional affiliations, in addition to ISSA, include the Association of Information Technology Professionals, American Society for Industrial Security, and the High Technology Crimes Investigative Association.

Robert will be presenting on an overview of Information Assurance and Digital Forensics

The federal government had recognized the need for more information security training to bolster the protection of our country's critical infrastructure, even before 09/11. The new Information Assurance and Digital Forensics curriculum at Butler Community College is a result of that initiative. Robert has achieved the 4011 Certification in Information Assurance from the Committee on National Security Systems through the Butler program. He will discuss the prerequisites, the courses and the topics covered in this new Information Assurance and Digital Forensics curriculum.

Robert also will give a brief introduction to digital forensics. Digital Forensics is the collection and analysis of electronic evidence to meet the standards required in a court of law.

Robert will answer some key questions like
    • When would you need to collect evidence?
    • Where would it be?
    • How do you collect and process it?
    • What restrictions apply?
    • What mistakes will cost you your case?
    • Is forensics merely technology?
    • What about anti-forensics?

Please join us on Friday, October 5th at 1pm for the bi-monthly meeting for the Central Plains Chapter of the ISSA as we provide a concise overview of Information Assurance and Digital Forensics.

The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)® is a not-for-profit international organization of information security professionals and practitioners.  It provides education forums, publications and peer interaction opportunities that enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members. We hope the ISSA will provide a chance to interface with other IT professionals and further your awareness of security practices and technologies.

This meeting is open to the general public with no expectations of membership.
